From the New Pastor
About me: Greetings everyone, I'm writing to introduce myself and perhaps share a little of my vision for FBC Dry Prong. My name is Kevin Goodman, and I am 38 years old. I have a wonderful wife Kharissa, and two beautiful children, Jeremiah who is currently 4, and Esther who is 2. For the last 6 years I served as pastor in my home town of Winnsboro, LA at Boeuf River Baptist Church. God greatly blessed our time there and I began to sense God leading me here. I have a BA from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and working hard to complete my Masters of Divinity. June 5, 2022 was my first Sunday, and I am looking forward to where God leads. My favorite hobbies include deer hunting, riding my Harley, watching LSU and Saints Football, and spending quality time with my family. You'll find I am extremely laid back, easily approachable, and have a heart to help others in their walk with Jesus. I simply desire to help disciples make disciples!
As a Pastor: I pledge to make myself available to the members of FBC Dry Prong. Mondays are typically my day off, but I'm still a phone call away if needed. Please feel free to stop by, call, text or email if you need prayer, advice, or a word of encouragement. I strive to preach Gods word in context every Sunday. I also strive to lead by example. I believe all of life's questions can be answered in Gods holy word. I believe the Church is not a "one man show," but rather built on individual members that serve the body. (1st Cor 12). I am but one part of this body, if this Church to be successful in ministry, every member must do his or her part.
What I'd like to see from our members: First, allow me to define member. A biblical church member is someone who has accepted Jesus as their savior, has followed in his footsteps in baptism, and serves the body. I simply ask the the members of FBC dry prong support their church. You can support your church in a variety of ways, but minimally in attendance, and service. FBC dry prong has a variety of ministries, and there is always a place to serve. I want to work both for you, and with you for advancement of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Vision: My vision for FBC Dry Prong currently is that we would simply be a New Testament Church. A church that welcomes everyone at every stage of life. I hope we get to a point where we have baptisms and new church members regularly. I envision a church where New converts are made, and new pastors, missionaries, teachers and leaders are called. I hope FBC dry prong will be place where one can worship in freedom over fear. I see FBC as being a shining light in a dark world. If every member does their part, I see FBC growing by leaps and bounds in the days and years ahead!
